Handles Up to Class V Rapids

AIRE Lynx inflatable kayaks are among the most respected models on the market and the longer Lynx II is AIRE’s best selling kayak. It is popular for both tandem trips as well as solo kayakers who want the extra cargo space for more gear. Both boats have great surfing ability and easily punch through waves thanks to the narrow bow design and slick acrylic hull.

A Note on the Super Lynx Touring Kayak

Though it shares the same name, AIRE’s Super Lynx is actually a hybrid kayak for moderate whitewater or flat water use. With its V-shaped hull, it tracks well and paddles comfortably for long backcountry treks.

The AIRECell Air Floor System

AIRECell Air Floor System AIRE Lynx inflatable kayaks have three air chambers including the floor, and a hull of 1100 denier base material (Material Weight Oz/Yd: 24/27), with an acrylic top. Each model has three self-bailing drain holes that drain water in less than five seconds —faster than any other inflatables on the market.

You will still occasionally come across an older model Lynx equipped with a closed-cell foam floor, but these are no longer offered by AIRE (though you can probably custom order one). For 2008 and beyond, these AIRECell Air Floor models can be deflated with the floor left in the boat, and rolled up, whereas the foam floor had to be removed so the kayak could be rolled up and bagged separately.

Loved by Expert Kayakers

Reviews give the Lynx I and II top marks for stability, reliability, comfort, easy entry, speed, control, great cargo capacity, and that remarkable 10-year warranty. Owners have bragged that they’ve used their AIRE inflatable kayaks on hundreds of trips down big water, boofing on rocks, sleeping in them, and dragging them over gravel beaches. It’s a great design for beginners who want to start out right with high performance equipment, or for an advanced kayaker who has tried other kayaks and wants to step up to better quality.

Worth the Money

AIRE Lynx kayaks are more expensive than other whitewater inflatables but they are worth it since AIRE covers them with a 10-year warranty even if the damage to the kayak is your fault. You have to pay for shipping to their repair center, but ripping out a D-ring or puncturing a hole in an air chamber is covered. What other company backs its products like that? For being extremely rugged and versatile, and designed to last for ten years or more, AIRE Lynx inflatable kayaks are highly recommended.
