The NRS RIKEN Seminole I Inflatable Kayak – Rugged, Portable, Built to Last

The tough NRS RIKEN Seminole I inflatable kayak is ready for whitewater adventure and general touring.

Long Lasting Material

At $1,470, the NRS Riken Seminole I is the most expensive inflatable kayak the company offers and the hypalon fabric used in the Seminole has earned kudos as being one of the more chemical, abrasion, and UV resistant IKs you can find. The IK is built to last if treated well and not abused, i.e., it won’t hold up if it is dragged across dry rocks or pavement. That kind of battering will cause the protective covering to wear down quickly.

The NRS RIKEN Seminole I inflatable kayak is easy to roll up and since it is fairly light at 39 pounds, you can toss it in the trunk of your car or store it in the RV. Standard items on this NRS IK include 4 D-rings, but no carry handle. It doesn’t come with accessories such as thigh straps, but you can add these items as you see a need for them.

As for performance on whitewater, the NRS RIKEN Seminole I has a lot of rocker, it’s self-bailing, and very stable. The front “kick” and rear “rocker” refers to the curve of the bow and stern and this will help the IK ride easily over waves. Despite the high rocker profile, it still tracks well on flat water thanks to its long water line.

A Good but Not Great IK

While the NRS RIKEN Seminole I inflatable kayak has seen a price increase recently, it is still an okay buy because it is backed by a 10-year warranty and NRS has a good reputation for customer service. However, there are better models on the market at this price range so be sure to look at all your options before choosing the Seminole.
