Very Portable and Easy to Use
The Rave Sea Rebel Inflatable Kayak is made of a 420D nylon hull cover protecting the 24-gauge PVC air bladder. The bottom of the hull is a slick PVC tarpaulin covering that offers easy gliding over water. Boston valves on the bladders allow for quick 5-minute inflation times. The efficient hand pump (included) is all you need to bring the kayak to full inflation.
Other features include four foam-filled carry handles, bungee cord storage on the rear of the kayak, a recumbent-style sling seat, and a water resistant storage bag with bottle hold on the rear of the backrest.
Fitted with three bottom fins, the low-profile hull is easy to paddle and maneuver. User reviews mention that the compact design and broad beam feels sturdy enough for any user weighing up to the maximum limit of 200 pounds.
At just 22 pounds, this lightweight kayak can be carried virtually anywhere – stow it in your trunk or RV, take it on a plane, or backpack with it. It includes a very roomy carry case so there’s no effort to getting the deflated boat back into the bag.
A Fun and Well-Designed Play Boat
The $189 Rave Sea Rebel Inflatable kayak includes everything you need to get started – a pump, double-end paddle, and dry bag – it’s all included. As a beginner’s boat, it is fine for leisure water but it won’t be a performer on faster water where stability and control are crucial factors. The Sea Rebel doesn’t track as well as the sit-in Advanced Elements Firefly ($199) but compared to the new Sevylor SOT kayaks the Sea Rebel scores higher in most categories. If you have any reservations about the Sea Rebel and the recumbent seating, we suggest you check out the AE Firefly, which is also a good choice for a sub-$200 kayak.
