Seaeagle is a reputable company
by John Manfredi
We recently bought a new 2016 Seaeagle 465 Fasttrack from the factory.
We have had about 46 years paddling various river and lake canoes, a Klepper Aerius kayak.
We wanted an absolutely, 100% safe craft to use with young grandkids on board. While we have paddled canoes in very demanding lake and river conditions, we just didn't want risk a canoe tipover with grandkids on board.
The Fasttrack was a stable, beautiful, well constructed boat and handled well in the water, including 15-20 mph wind and waves on a large lake. As compared to two styles of Aquaglide kayaks we have tried, the Seaeagle was superior in every way.
However after one outing we decided to send it back. Three reasons:
1. It just wasn't big enough for two adults with an active grandkid.
2. The bow needs a topside wave splash deflector when heading into wind and waves.
3. It took too much time to disassemble, clean and dry out after each use. One must take floor out, towel dry, then air dry, reassemble, pack.
When we called Seaeagle about returning it, they were very friendly and cooperative, and did not try to change our minds about the return whatsoever.
We paid return shipping, about $130. No complaint about this cost as the decision to return was ours.
Our refund was processed within a week after they received our return.
So our two points in writing this review are:
the boat was very nice, and
Seaeagle company really does have a no hassle money back guarantee. In fact we still feel a little guilty about the costs they ate on our return.
