Seamax Inflatable Boats – Attractive, Economical
Seamax Air, Sport and Ocean Series Reviews
Sold in the US and Canada, Seamax inflatable boats start their journey from half way around the world: from their Italian design, the boats are assembled in China using superior Korean-made PVC materials.
The result for the North American consumer is a quality watercraft product at a reasonable price. Seamax also dispels any fears of a “Chinese-made” product by having the factory meet internationally recognized standards of quality: their production line has an ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer’s standard rating.
Three Styles of Seamax Inflatable Boats
Currently, Seamax makes three styles of inflatable boats: the Air Series, Sport Series, and the Ocean Series. They range from the small craft, the Air230 at 7'5" with a load capacity of 770 pounds, to the largest craft, the Ocean290 at 12'5" that can hold up to 6 people or 1600 pounds. The boats can easily be rowed or can be powered by a small outboard from 4hp on the Air230, up to 20hp on the Ocean290.
Seamax offers of three types of flooring on their inflatable boats: airmat, aluminum, and plywood. The airmat floor is lightweight and takes up less space than hard flooring. The aluminum floor is stronger to support more horsepower. The last alternative is plywood, an economical choice that is included as the standard floor in the Sport series. The plywood floor is very similar to the aluminum floor, except the center panels are marine grade plywood.

The Seamax Difference
Seamax inflatable boats have oversized buoyancy tubes for optimum stability that is almost impossible to capsize. This design gives each boat a low center of gravity that will be appreciated by people who are not only nervous about being on the water but being in an inflatable craft.
All of the boats are made with 1100 denier polyester fabric, which has been coated on each side with PVC, keeping the inflatable resistant to tears and abrasions. Each Seamax boat is manmade, including hand gluing the seams using a polyurethane-based glue for added protection against salt water and heat. The PVC material is backed by a 5-year warranty; the seams have a 3-year warranty.
There are two other safety features to point out: the V-hull bottom and inflatable keel are protected by a special patch called Hull Double Layer Protection. This design has been shown to reduce repairs by 30% compared to other brands. Lastly, there is an inter baffle on the tube that keeps the air bladder safely sealed, and its flexible design works to equalize air pressure between the cone parts.
Why Buy Seamax?
These are rugged yet lightweight designs, which can be up to 3 times lighter than competitor boats of the same size. That makes storing, assembly, and launching from a beach or larger boat deck much easier. The most appealing aspect of Seamax inflatable boats, however, is the low price. Ranging from $800 to $1200 for all the models in the three series, these are some of the most attractive, economical, and well-made boats on the market today.
Seamax Air Series - Oversized buoyancy tubes for increased stability. Impossible to flip over, carries large payloads. Great looking boats, backed with a decent 5-year warranty on the PVC fabric.
